Where the numbers come from
Weights come from King Arthur Baking’s ingredient weight chart, read on 28 September 2026. For flour, the chart gives 1 cup = 120 g. Cups and spoons are US customary: 1 cup is 236.6 ml, 16 tablespoons or 48 teaspoons. A metric cup (250 ml) holds about 6% more.
Volume is only ever an estimate for dry ingredients: how tightly a cup is filled changes its weight. When a recipe gives grams, weigh.
Questions
How many grams is 1 cup of flour?
1 US cup of flour is about 120 g, and ½ cup is about 60 g (King Arthur Baking’s ingredient weight chart). This assumes flour spooned into the cup and levelled, the way King Arthur measures it. Scooping straight from the bag packs it down and can add 20–30 g a cup, which is why some sites say 125 g.
How many cups is 100 grams of flour?
100 g of flour is about 0.833 US cups.
