How precise is it?
Every answer is worked out to 40 significant digits in decimal, not binary, and shown rounded half up to 15 digits (30 with the digits switch). Fractions, square roots and multiples of π are kept exact while you calculate, so sin 30° is exactly 0.5 and tan 90° is reported as undefined rather than as a huge number. See all 74 checked answers.
Questions
How accurate is this scientific calculator?
It works to 40 significant digits and shows 15, or 30 with the digits switch. Exact angles such as sin 30° are worked out by rule, so they come out exactly. All 74 reference calculations on the accuracy page are checked again before every release.
How do I switch between degrees and radians?
Use the DEG, RAD and GRAD switch above the answer. It changes how sin, cos and tan read an angle and how sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹ and tan⁻¹ give one. Type ° after a number to give that one angle in degrees in any mode, for example sin(30°).
Why does 0.1 + 0.2 show 0.3 here?
Most calculators on the web work in binary, which cannot store 0.1 exactly, so they show 0.30000000000000004. This one works in decimal, so 0.1 + 0.2 is exactly 0.3.
How does the % key work?
x% means x ÷ 100, so 50% is 0.5 and 200 + 10% is 200.1. When you type a number plus or minus a percentage, the calculator also offers the shop-style answer (200 + 10% → 220), which you can tap to use.
What does 6 ÷ 2(1 + 2) equal?
9. Multiplying by writing things side by side has the same priority as × and ÷, and these are worked left to right: (6 ÷ 2) × (1 + 2). The calculator shows a “read as” note whenever this rule decides the answer.
Is my calculation sent anywhere?
No. Everything is worked out in your browser. Your history and memory stay on your device, and Share puts the calculation in the link itself.
